Bangkokís Cosmos Football Club was founded on a rainy September day in the smoky clubroom of the then legendary Hotspot Company House on Sukhumvit 65. The idea was to establish a multi-cultural club based on a mutual pleasure of quality football rather than on nationality. Cosmos FC quickly established itself in the Bangkok football scene and became a synonym for fast paced, short passing. In the early days not less than four Thai Ex-Internationals joined the ranks amongst all the other nationalities, contributing to Cosmos fast rise in Asian amateur football. Cosmos has set high targets for 2008, most of all to keep their legendary easy-going, laid back approach. As a matter of fact each player in the Cosmos (Vets) squad will readily confirm that these tournaments are played in high spirits with no tussles and hustles involved, at least not within their own squad and that means "Mission accomplished". |

Bangkok VetsLeague Stars hail from the little-known league in Bangkok called the Veterans League. It is a league of fast-aging Over-35 youngsters, from all nationalities and all walks of life, played in the true spirit of friendship and the love of the game. Following years of running the ball in many leagues in Bangkok, some of us thought it was not really possible to keep up with the young-blood filling up the ranks of the newly emerging teams, and so the result is this new outlet for the veteran footballers of Bangkok since Feb/2005, specifically welcoming those of us who are looking for the lighter side of the game among peers (who donít run circles around us.!). We get together once-a-month, kick the ball around in a very social and friendly atmosphere for about half-a-day, and have a well-deserved party at the end of the day with beers and trophies and laughs. Best of it all, weíre always on the look-out for new teams and players to join in. So, come and find us at ww.vetsleague.com Remember, if itís 1st Sunday, itís Vets day! |

The Taiwan Mongrels are to football what The Barbarians are to Rugby. Well, not quite, but there are some interesting comparisons. Both teams are open to players from all other clubs (although we do not issue personal invitations or study individual form too closely). Another similarity lies in our mutual commitment to an attacking, free-flowing game (although in this case they might have a tad more success than we do). One big difference, though, is that while we encourage gentlemanly conduct on the field, we do not, like the Baa Baas, expect members of our pack to remain on their best behaviour when they are out and about town. |
