Bayon Wanderers FC, Runner-up of the Plate 2004 Phuket Soccer
7s. The impressive 12th century Angkorian Bayon
Temple lends its name to this impressive team. The strength
of the Angkorian Empire is reflected in the depth of the squads
character, and the beauty and elegance of the temples is reflected
in the grace with which they take to the field. Similarly,
the horrific brutality of the ancient Khmer kings is clearly
evident in their violent and erratic behaviour on the pitch. |

FOOTY JAPAN INTERNATIONAL FC (Japan) |

 |
Country: Japan
City: Tokyo
Team Color: Blue
Captain: Sid Lloyd
Players: International and a bit lairy... |
This team is comprised of a number of individuals who are regulars on the Asian Tournaments circuit and have some connection to, affiliation with, or know a bloke who knows a bloke who lives in Japan or went there on his holidays. The rigorous recruitment process, that involved the testing of more than 12 individuals, for this team included the players fulfilling a number of challenging tasks including the dreaded FJI FC multiple-choice questionnaire that contained such onerous conundrums as: "are you available on the weekend of November 24/25th?" "Do you have a valid passport?" And 'la question de toutes les questions': "What's your take on Asian females?" As proficient in the bars and clubs as they are on the field, you can count on this team to 'give it loads.' |

5th Soccer 7s Phuket = 5th participation Shanghai Krauts – what a series! Likewise our failures to get laid … eehhh, get the Cup. But not this time! With high confidence, backed by our extraordinary performance in the Bangkok Ester Tournament with a 3rd place, minimum target remains: the Cup! You wonder the maximum then: get laid after all. Nonetheless their individual agenda, already in early July the squad is set – never have the spirits higher. Casting our “tour de pain”: Olaf a.k.a. “Sudden Death”, “Porno Ralle”, Dominik (no nick name but happy to got a name at all), Andi, Frank a.k.a. “da Dresdna”, Sebastien, Uwe a.k.a. “hand model”, Timo, Manu and a couple of old-timers from Germany such as “Directore Technico” and Matze “the eternal second”. And as in Bangkok this year, the club will bring the older fraction “Sauerkrauts” as well to unleash our very own competition which stands 0-1 in favour for the “Alten Saecke”! |

The Taiwan Mongrels are to football what The Barbarians are to Rugby. Well, not quite, but there are some interesting comparisons. Both teams are open to players from all other clubs (although we do not issue personal invitations or study individual form too closely). Another similarity lies in our mutual commitment to an attacking, free-flowing game (although in this case they might have a tad more success than we do). One big difference, though, is that while we encourage gentlemanly conduct on the field, we do not, like the Baa Baas, expect members of our pack to remain on their best behaviour when they are out and about town. After all, there is no point in asking for the impossible. This is our third year on tour, and we plan to enter a team into many of these great tournaments across S.E. Asia, so please come and have a beer with us – before the game, if we are drawn to play. Cheers! |

TOKYO
HIBERNIAN (Japan) |
 |

|
Country: Japan
City: Tokyo
Team Color: Green
Captain: Bevan
Players: International... |
Tokyo Hibernian was formed in 2001 by the merger of the Tokyo Irish and Tokyo Albion. From these Celtic roots we have become an international team with 50% Japanese and 50% from a host of countries including Australia, Ireland, Canada, Scotland and the U.S. We won the 2005/6 Tokyo Metropolis league (the premier foreign club competition in Tokyo); completing our 2nd league win in 3 years. We were semi finalists in the Phuket 7's in 2005, going out to the eventual winners, the Bangkok Cosmos on a golden goal. In 2006 we return to Phuket with a larger and stronger squad and our aim is to take the cup back with us to Tokyo. |
